Type: Day-to-day cover, pre-booked shifts and bank supply staff
A secondary cover supervisor is essential when it comes to helping secondary schools deliver the pre-set work for a range of different classes when the class teacher is off. The role comes with a range of responsibilities, such as...
- Delivery all pre-planned and set work for the class being covered, this could be across a range of different year groups (From year 7 to year 11), and across a variety of subjects.
- Follow the schools behaviour management policies and protocols in place, to help manage and maintain a controlled learning environment for all students in class.
- Communicate with school contacts or other class teachers in reporting any class issues, work updates and how the students have got on during that specific lesson.
- When needed, support individual children who may be struggling with specific aspects oof work or the curriculum.
Cover supervisor roles within secondary schools are a fantastic opportunity for someone to develop teaching skills, classroom management strategies, broaden their knowledge on different curriculums, but also gain first had experience within educational settings.
