SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School (2-Form Entry) Location: Hackney, East London

Veritas Education is currently recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a friendly, supportive 2-form entry primary school in Hackney, rated Good by Ofsted. The school is a creative, inclusive, and forward-thinking community school that places the child at the centre of everything it does. From Nursery through to Year 6, pupils are supported to develop the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to succeed both academically and personally.

The school holds high expectations for both attainment and behaviour, and teaching assistants are expected to integrate seamlessly with the dedicated staff team, sharing their passion for education and commitment to achieving the very best outcomes for every child. Staff take great pride in working at the school and believe that children thrive best when they feel happy, safe, and secure. As a result, pupils are challenged daily and supported to flourish academically and emotionally.

This role is ideal for SEN Teaching Assistants with relevant experience, with SEN qualifications being desirable. The school is seeking someone confident in supporting pupils with additional needs across any primary age group, from Early Years through to Key Stage 2, depending on preference.

The role: You will work closely with the SENCo and teaching staff to help create a positive, nurturing, and structured learning environment. The role involves supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, managing behavioural challenges effectively, and delivering support on a 1:1 and small group basis within the classroom. You will be a proactive, hands-on individual with a strong understanding of SEN and a genuine desire to improve the lives of the children you support. Placement across EYFS, KS1, or KS2 will be discussed based on experience and preference. Previous experience is essential, and relevant qualifications are advantageous.

Teaching Assistant support for pupils: * Supporting pupils to make strong academic progress under the guidance of the class teacher and Inclusion Lead * Setting high expectations while promoting independence and self-esteem * Delivering targeted 1:1 or group interventions for pupils with emotional or social barriers to learning * Building positive relationships and acting as a strong role model * Promoting inclusion and ensuring all pupils feel valued and supported

Teaching Assistant support for teachers: * Creating and maintaining a purposeful, calm, and supportive learning environment * Supporting pupils to meet learning objectives using strategies directed by the teacher * Working collaboratively with teachers to organise learning activities and define support strategies

The school offers: A warm, welcoming, and supportive environment where pupils, staff, and parents feel valued. Classrooms are well resourced and organised, behaviour is positive, and additional support is in place to help every child reach their potential. Staff consistently describe the school as a fantastic place to work.

Requirements: * Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant and/or relevant SEN qualifications * Good literacy skills (GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English, or equivalent) * Good numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C/4 or above in Maths, or equivalent) * Experience working within a UK primary school setting * A patient, caring, and proactive approach * Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-regarded Hackney primary school and make a meaningful difference to pupils' learning and development.
