SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School (2-Form Entry) Location: Haringey, North London
Veritas Education is currently recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a friendly and supportive 2-form entry primary school in Haringey. The school is a highly creative, forward-thinking community school where, from the very start of their journey in nursery to when they leave in Year 6, the children are taught the skills and knowledge to succeed not only in school but in life. This role is suitable for SEN TAs with experience with relevant SEN qualifications being preferable. The school would like someone who is confident supporting pupils with additional needs across any primary age group, from Early Years through to Key Stage 2 depending on your preference.
The role:
The role will involve working closely with the SENCo and teaching staff to provide a happy and safe environment for the children in your care. You will be able to provide a decent level of knowledge on special educational needs and be able to deal with any behavioural challenges. You will work with students on a 1:1 and group basis, supporting them inside the classroom. You will be a hands-on and proactive individual with a willingness to improve the lives of the children you work with. You'll be based across Early years, KS1 and KS2 depending on preference. Please note that previous experience is essential and relevant qualifications would be preferable.
Teaching Assistant support for Pupils:
- Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader
- Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
- Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning
- Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
Teaching Assistant Support for Teachers:
- Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils' work
- Use strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
- Discuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organised and what their own support role will be

Requirements:
- Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant and/or relevant SEN qualifications
- Good literacy skills - GCSE Grade C or above in English Language; Level 2 English or above; or equivalent
- Good numeracy skills- GCSE Grade C or above in Maths; Level 2 Maths or above; or equivalent
- Experience working in a UK primary school setting
- A patient, proactive, and caring approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
