1:1 Teaching Assistant Needed - Primary School
We are currently working with a supportive primary school that is seeking an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to a child with additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone patient, compassionate, and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning.
About the Role:
You will be providing one-to-one support for a child who requires additional help to engage fully with school life. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing consistent 1:1 support during lessons, group activities, and transitions
- Assisting with communication, emotional regulation, and behaviour
- Helping to implement personalised learning strategies set by the class teacher and SENCO
- Supporting the child's social skills, confidence, and independence
- Maintaining clear communication with staff, parents, and outside professionals
Depending on the child's needs, the role may also include elements of personal care.
Who We're Looking For:
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs in a primary school
- Ability to build a trusting, positive relationship with children
- Calm, caring, and resilient approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow support plans effectively
Bonus If You Have:
- Experience working 1:1 with children with communication or behavioural needs
- Knowledge of SEND strategies and intervention methods
- A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
