Learning Support Assistant
Location: St Albans Contract Type: Full-Time Salary: £100 - £120 per day (Depending on Experience)
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist educational setting in St Albans. This full-time role involves supporting students with additional educational needs, including SEND, SEMH, and EHCP requirements, within an alternative or personalised provision environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support students' academic progress, emotional regulation, and social development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students across the curriculum
- Assist teachers in delivering differentiated learning activities
- Support students with SEND, SEMH, and behavioural needs
- Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing
- Help students access learning and develop independence and confidence
- Implement support strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual learning plans
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Record progress and provide feedback to teaching and support staff
- Follow all safeguarding and child protection policies
Essential Criteria
- Experience working with children or young people (education, SEND, care, or youth work settings)
- Experience within alternative provision or specialist education settings
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE, Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Youth Work, Psychology)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Right to work in the UK
