SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 (Autism) Location: Islington, North London Agency: Veritas Education School Type: 1 Form Entry Primary School Year Group: Reception Role Type: Full-time, long-term
Veritas Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive 1 form entry primary school in Islington to recruit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant for a 1:1 role supporting a child with Autism in Reception.
This is a high-needs role and requires a confident, resilient practitioner who has strong behaviour management strategies and a good understanding of autism in early years settings.
The Role:
Providing 1:1 support for a Reception-aged child with Autism
Implementing effective strategies to support learning, communication and regulation
Supporting the child with emotional and behavioural needs throughout the school day
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and external professionals
Creating a calm, structured and nurturing environment
The Ideal Candidate:
Has proven experience supporting children with Autism, particularly high-needs
Confident in using positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
Patient, consistent and proactive
Strong understanding of EYFS and child development
Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
