Job Title: Occupational Therapist Location: West Drayton, West London Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm Salary: £150 - £210 per day

Job Overview An established primary special school in West Drayton is seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join its multidisciplinary team. This is a unique opportunity to support children and young people with autism and severe learning difficulties, empowering them to access meaningful learning and develop functional, sensory, and motor skills.

The successful candidate will deliver evidence-based assessments, interventions, and programmes tailored to individual pupil needs, contributing to both school-based and community support initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied caseload of children and young people with SEN, autism, or severe learning difficulties.
  • Conduct Occupational Therapy assessments and develop individualized intervention plans, including sensory diets and motor skill programmes.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to integrate OT strategies into classroom and home settings.
  • Contribute to Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) with clear clinical reporting and outcome setting.
  • Provide guidance and training for staff and families to ensure consistency of therapeutic approaches.
  • Support holistic pupil development through functional life-skills training, social engagement, and emotional regulation.
  • Maintain accurate records, monitor progress, and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Essential Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Experience working with children and/or young people with autism, SEN, or severe learning difficulties.
  • Strong knowledge of sensory processing, motor development, and functional skills interventions.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience contributing to EHCPs and multidisciplinary reports.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team.
  • Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in school-based occupational therapy within a primary or secondary SEN environment.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed, autism-specific, or sensory integration approaches.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of an expanding school provision.
