Job Purpose
To lead and manage the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provision, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning that meets statutory requirements and promotes outstanding outcomes for all pupils. The EYFS Lead will inspire and support staff, foster a nurturing environment, and work collaboratively with parents and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Lead the EYFS team, providing guidance, support, and professional development.
- Oversee curriculum planning and ensure compliance with the EYFS Statutory Framework.
- Monitor and evaluate teaching standards, implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
- Contribute to whole-school leadership and development initiatives.
Teaching & Learning
- Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
- Use formative and summative assessment to track progress and inform planning.
- Promote child-centered, play-based learning that supports holistic development.
- Ensure effective transition from EYFS to Key Stage 1.
Safeguarding & Inclusion
- Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
- Support children with SEND and implement inclusive practices.
- Work closely with parents, carers, and external professionals to support pupil development.
Assessment & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress using EYFS assessment tools.
- Prepare reports for parents, senior leaders, and external bodies (e.g., Ofsted).
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Proven experience teaching within EYFS.
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS Statutory Framework.
Desirable:
- Previous leadership experience within EYFS.
- NPQ in Leadership or Early Years Leadership.
- Training in phonics, SEND, and safeguarding.

- Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships.

- Experience
- Strong understanding of the EYFS Statutory Framework and early childhood pedagogy. Previous experience as EYFS Phase Leader, Early Years Coordinator, or similar leadership role. Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection. Experience in preparing for Ofsted inspections and contributing to school improvement plans. In-depth understanding of the EYFS Statutory Framework.
