Veritas Education are working with a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Hackney seeking an experienced and fully qualified SENCO to lead and manage their Special Educational Needs provision. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate SEN professional to play a key role in shaping high-quality support for pupils across the school.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating SEND provision, managing EHCP processes, supporting staff with strategies, and ensuring that pupils with additional needs receive the tailored support they require to thrive. You will work closely with teachers, parents, external agencies and the senior leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the school's SEND provision, ensuring high-quality support across all year groups.
- Oversee identification, assessment and monitoring of pupils with SEND.
- Coordinate and manage EHCPs, referrals and review processes.
- Support teachers in adapting lessons and implementing personalised strategies.
- Deliver staff training and promote a strong inclusive culture.
- Work with external agencies (e.g., SALT, EPs, CAMHS) to provide multi-agency support.
- Build strong relationships with families and act as a key point of contact.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) - Essential
- Proven experience as a SENCO or in a senior SEN role.
- Excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and primary education.
- Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- A passionate commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and child-centred practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and external professionals.
