Role: Special Needs Assistant

Location: Harrogate/North Yorkshire

Type: Full Time - Long Term Contract

The Role:

Veritas Education are working with a cluster of special needs schools in the Harrogate/North Yorkshire area, looking to recruit multiple Special Needs Support Assistants.

The school is a learner centred, nurturing and caring provision, designed to help support a range of primary and secondary aged students with varying learning, communication and medical/physcial needs.

The ideal candidate for this role….

  • Confident supporting a range of learning needs such as Autism, Asperger's, Down Syndrome and various communication needs (Non and Pre Verbal)
  • Happy working on a 1:1 basis with children from 5- to 19-year-olds
  • Experience in special needs curriculum, and support techniques like the use of Makaton and PECS is preferred.
  • Confident in supporting a range of behaviour, including sensory needs, dietary needs and crisis moments.
  • Comfortable working alongside a range of other support staff, teachers and external healthcare assistants to provide a safe, caring and nurturing learning environment for all children.
