Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a dynamic SEMH school in Lewisham. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students in overcoming barriers to learning and achieving their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Implement behaviour management strategies tailored to individual student needs.
- Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and emotional regulation.
- Support teaching staff in managing classroom behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment.
- Monitor and report on student progress, behaviour incidents, and emotional wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies to support holistic development.
- Assist in the development and delivery of personalised behaviour plans.
- Promote inclusion and ensure all students feel safe, respected, and valued.
- Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour, using de-escalation techniques.
- Encourage resilience, self-esteem, and independence in students.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (school-based experience essential).
- Strong understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to challenging situations with empathy.
- Enhanced Child DBS (on the update service or willing to apply).
- Immediate availability.
