Teaching Assistant Level 2/3 - Job Description
???? Main Purpose
To support teaching staff in the development and education of pupils, including those with special needs, under the guidance of the teacher.
???? Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and delivery of learning activities.
- Support pupils individually or in small groups.
- Promote inclusion and independence.
- Help manage behaviour and maintain a safe learning environment.
- Prepare classroom materials and displays.
- Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress.
- Support pupils with personal care needs if required.
- Use ICT to support learning.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
???? Skills Required
- Good literacy and numeracy.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child development.
- Ability to build relationships with pupils and staff.
- Basic ICT skills.
???????? Teaching Assistant Level 3 -
???? Main Purpose
To provide more advanced support to teaching staff, often including planning, delivering interventions, and supervising whole classes when needed.
???? Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver learning activities under teacher guidance.
- Lead small group interventions (e.g. phonics, maths).
- Support pupils with SEN and EHCPs.
- Observe and assess pupil progress.
- Maintain pupil records and contribute to reports.
- Supervise classes during short-term teacher absence.
- Liaise with parents and external professionals.
- Support curriculum delivery across subjects.
- Provide pastoral and emotional support.
???? Skills Required
- Strong understanding of child development and SEN.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Experience with behaviour management strategies.
- Proficient in using ICT for learning support.
