Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO to lead and manage the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) immediately. The successful candidate will work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school's SEND policy.
- Coordinate provision for pupils with SEND, including those with EHCPs.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to support pupil progress.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure statutory compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Support and train staff in delivering inclusive teaching strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and support plans.
- Lead annual reviews and contribute to multi-agency meetings.
Necessary Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) -
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
- Up-to-date safeguarding training
Preferable Experience:
- Proven experience coordinating SEND provision in a school setting
- Strong understanding of EHCPs and statutory SEND responsibilities
- Experience working with pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other complex needs
- Ability to lead staff training and promote inclusive practices
- Familiarity with progress tracking and data analysis for SEND pupils

- Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - ideally with additional SEN qualifications (e.g. NASENCO). Experience coordinating SEND provision across a school or department. Strong understanding of EHCPs, SEND Code of Practice, and statutory responsibilities. Track record of working with external agencies (e.g. Educational Psychologists, CAMHS).
