Year 6 Teaching Assistant needed for a Primary School in Blackburn We're currently working with a primary school in Blackburn who are looking for a confident and experienced Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 class.
This full-time role involves supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and working with small groups to boost progress in core subjects such as Maths and English. The school are looking for someone who can build positive relationships, stay calm under pressure, and provide consistent, reliable support during a key stage of learning.
About the role:
You'll be working across the Year 6 class, providing targeted support and helping pupils stay focused and engaged. Your day-to-day will include:
Supporting small groups with Maths and English interventions
Managing behaviour in a calm, consistent and positive way
Assisting the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities
Helping children prepare for SATs and transition to secondary school
Supporting social and emotional wellbeing
Who we're looking for:
Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
At least 6 months of experience in a similar role within a school setting
Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour
Confidence delivering interventions and supporting with core subjects
A calm, approachable attitude and the ability to build trust with pupils
Bonus if you have:
Experience in upper Key Stage 2
Knowledge of SATs preparation and booster sessions
A current enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
