Location: West Drayton Contract Type: Full-Time (Term-time only) Salary: £105 - £120 per day
About the Role
Veritas Education is recruiting a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within an Alternative Provision supporting students aged 11-16 who face barriers to learning, including behavioural challenges and risk of exclusion from mainstream education.
This role is particularly focused on providing academic support in English, Maths, PSHE and Humanities, ensuring students develop key skills, confidence, and resilience to achieve their learning goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted learning support in English, Maths, PSHE and Humanities, working with individuals and small groups under teacher guidance.
- Reinforce subject content, literacy, numeracy, and personal development skills to help students progress.
- Support lesson planning by providing feedback to teachers on student progress and engagement.
- Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour while promoting positive attitudes towards learning.
- Foster an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment that encourages student participation and achievement.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and fellow LSAs to share best practices and intervention strategies.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) or Teaching Assistant in a secondary school or SEN/Alternative Provision setting.
- Proven experience supporting English, Maths, PSHE and Humanities at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, or those at risk of exclusion.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage students effectively.
- Resilient, calm, and patient personality with the ability to build trust and positive relationships.
- A passion for supporting disadvantaged students and helping them reach their potential.
