Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Challenging Behaviour Support) Location: Burnley Contract Type: [Full-Time, Term Time Only Salary: £85 - £90 per day Start Date: Monday 1st September
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you have experience supporting children or young adults with challenging behaviour, particularly in residential childcare or similar settings?
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional behavioural needs in an inclusive and nurturing school environment. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is calm under pressure, patient, and able to build trusting relationships with children who may find the school environment challenging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support for a specific pupil throughout the school day, both in and out of the classroom.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to implement behaviour support strategies.
- Encourage positive choices and emotional regulation through a trauma-informed approach.
- Assist with learning activities, emotional support, and the development of social skills.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the child at all times.
About You:
- Experience in residential childcare, youth work, or supporting individuals with challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
- You do not need formal Teaching Assistant qualifications - training will be provided for the right candidate.
- A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine desire to support children to thrive both academically and emotionally.
