Learning Support Assistant
Location: Middlesbrough Start Date: September 2025 Contract Type: Long-term temporary
Rate of pay: £85 - £110 p/day Working Hours: Full-time, term time only
Are you committed to helping young people achieve their full potential? Do you have experience working with students who need extra support in the classroom?
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a dynamic mainstream secondary school in Middlesbrough. This long-term temporary role offers the opportunity to support learners aged 11-16 across a range of subjects and abilities.
Duties:
- Provide targeted support to students with additional learning needs, both 1:1 and in small groups
- Assist teaching staff in delivering tailored learning activities
- Help maintain a focused and positive learning environment
- Support students with organisation, emotional regulation, and social interaction
- Work closely with the SENCO and teaching team to track progress and adapt support strategies
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience supporting young people in a school or similar setting (experience in secondary education is highly desirable)
- LSAs with specialist experience (e.g. working with ASD, SEMH or 1:1 behaviour support)
- A patient, calm, and supportive approach to behaviour and learning
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- A current enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
