Veritas Education is currently working in partnership with a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Deptford to recruit a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from September 2025.
This is an exciting opportunity for a caring, patient and enthusiastic individual who is eager to support pupils with a range of special educational needs on a 1:1 or small group basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs (including ASD, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties)
- Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and external specialists
- Help deliver EHCP targets through structured interventions
- Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment
- Monitor and record pupil progress and provide regular feedback
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children with SEN (in a school or similar setting)
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with diverse needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff and families
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Psychology or Education degree)
- Team Teach or similar de-escalation training
- Knowledge of strategies to support speech and language or sensory needs
