Veritas Education is working on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Deptford that is seeking a highly experienced and confident SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a full-time role within a specialist SEN classroom, supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
About the Role: The successful candidate will provide focused support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties. The role involves a mix of one-to-one support and small group interventions, and requires a calm, proactive, and flexible approach.
Responsibilities Include:
- Supporting the academic and social development of pupils with SEN
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted interventions
- Helping to implement and review individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCPs
- Managing behaviour effectively using positive reinforcement strategies
- Encouraging independence and confidence in all learners
- Assisting with classroom routines and adapting resources to meet individual needs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Substantial experience working in primary settings with SEN pupils, especially in KS1 and KS2
- Strong knowledge of various SEN conditions and effective support strategies
- Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
- Confidence in working independently as well as part of a team
- A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 3 or equivalent (desirable)
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Veritas
