We are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated and supportive team within a special needs provision for primary-aged children. This role involves working across different classes, providing one-to-one and group support to children with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
???? Key Responsibilities:
- Support the learning and development of pupils with a variety of complex needs
- Work across different classrooms to offer targeted assistance where needed
- Implement individual learning plans under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
- Provide personal care and physical support for pupils with PMLD
- Use a range of communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables
- Help manage challenging behaviours in a calm and proactive manner
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and safe learning environment
✅ Requirements:
- Proven experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
- Confidence and competence supporting children with PMLD, including personal care
- Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, and a range of additional needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Resilient, adaptable, and emotionally intelligent
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning, or equivalent) are desirable
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
???? Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience with manual handling and use of hoists
- Basic understanding of sensory integration strategies
- First Aid and/or Team Teach training
