SEN Teaching Assistant
Pay: £90-£110 per day
Full-time/ Term Time only
Islington, North London
A SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant supports children with additional learning needs in schools. This role involves helping pupils with physical disabilities, learning difficulties, emotional or behavioural issues, autism spectrum disorders, or other special needs to access the curriculum and succeed in a school environment.
SEN Support Staff Role:
- Manage challenging behaviour, using strategies that are suitable for each child.
- Support children with personal care needs such as feeding, toileting, and mobility, particularly if the child has physical disabilities.
- Managing challenging behaviour calmly and constructively.
- Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEN including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language delays, social/emotional needs, and learning difficulties.
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and parents.
SEN Support Staff Requirements:
- Adaptability and resilience.
- Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with pupils and staff
- Enthusiastic, proactive and committed to helping children reach their potential.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, or a strong desire to support those with additional learning needs.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one)
