SEN Support Staff
Pay: £90-£110 per day
Full-time/ Term Time only
Barking and Dagenham, North London
As an SEN Support Staff member, you will work closely with teaching staff and the SENCo to support students with a variety of special educational needs, including learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and speech and language challenges.
SEN Support Staff Role:
- Promote independence, self-confidence, and emotional wellbeing among pupils.
- Manage challenging behaviour, using strategies that are suitable for each child.
- Support children with personal care needs such as feeding, toileting, and mobility, particularly if the child has physical disabilities.
- Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEN including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language delays, social/emotional needs, and learning difficulties.
- Contribute to the development and review of Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and pupil support strategies. Support with personal care needs, where appropriate
SEN Support Staff Requirements:
- Knowledge of SEN conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other specific learning difficulties.
- Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with pupils and staff
- Enthusiastic, proactive and committed to helping children reach their potential.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, or a strong desire to support those with additional learning needs.
- Good observational skills and the ability to record and report on pupil progress effectively.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one)
