Behaviour Support Worker

Location: Keighley, West Yorkshire

Contract Type: Monday-Friday (Full-Time - 8:30am-3:30pm) -Term Time Only

Salary: £85-£95 a day

Veritas Education are working with a primary special school in Keighley. The school are searching for Behaviour Support Workers to join their team. The school is a dynamic and inclusive educational institution dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Special Educational Needs (SEN). The school is committed to fostering personal growth, academic achievement, and social development in a supportive setting.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with their behavioural and learning needs, providing individualized interventions, and contributing to the overall positive learning environment of the school.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to students with challenging behaviour, implementing personalized strategies to address and manage their specific needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the school's multidisciplinary team to develop and implement behaviour management plans, ensuring a consistent and positive approach.
  • Effectively handle and de-escalate crisis situations by using Level 2 Team Teach strategies, employing proven strategies to maintain a safe and secure environment for both students and staff.
  • Establish strong rapport with students, fostering trust and promoting positive relationships to enhance students' social and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create a cohesive support network for students, ensuring a holistic and integrated approach to their development.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, behavioural incidents, and interventions, and contribute to regular reviews and assessments.
  • Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people and/or adults with challenging behaviour and Social and Emotional Mental Health needs is essential.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management principles and positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Be Level 2 Team Teach trained or be willing to attend the training course offered by Veritas.
  • Level 2 safeguarding training is essential, this can be offered by Veritas.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to the dynamic nature of the role.
  • Candidates must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS upon registration.
  • Have proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
