Veritas Education is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant on behalf of a respected local Blackburn with Darwen Primary School. This rewarding position is available to start as soon as possible, with working hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • Start Date: Immediate
  • Working Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Key Responsibilities: As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing essential support to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting Pupils: Provide tailored support to pupils with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the assistance required to thrive academically and emotionally.
  • Building Positive Relationships: Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting high self-esteem and independence while offering encouragement and support.
  • Adapting Communication: Adjust communication styles to suit the individual needs of pupils, ensuring effective interaction and understanding.
  • Supporting Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs: Assist pupils with their social, emotional, and mental health needs, identifying and escalating concerns as necessary to ensure appropriate support is provided.
  • Promoting Positive Behavior: Encourage and promote high standards of behavior, adhering to the school's behavior policy and guidelines on physical intervention when necessary.
  • Individual Education and Support Plans: Contribute to the development and delivery of individual education and support plans, collaborating with teachers and specialists to address specific learning goals and requirements.
  • Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Previous experience working with pupils with special educational needs and disabilities is desirable.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting vulnerable pupils.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the diverse needs of pupils and respond effectively to challenging situations.
  • Understanding of behavior management strategies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and protocols.
  • Relevant qualifications and certifications are advantageous.
