Veritas Education are recruiting dor an experienced SEN teacher to join one of our fantastic schools.

Job Title: SEN Teacher

Location: Dudley

Salary: £210-£240 per day

Contract: Full-time (term-time only)

Position Overview:

As a Special Education Needs Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education to secondary-aged students who are learning at a primary level. Working closely with a diverse student body, you will provide tailored support and instruction to meet the unique needs of each learner. Your expertise in special education and commitment to student-centred teaching will be instrumental in helping students overcome barriers to learning and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that cater to the individual needs and abilities of students with special educational needs, focusing on core subjects such as English, mathematics, science, and humanities.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring that goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued, respected, and empowered to participate actively in their learning.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, and use data to inform instructional decisions and modify teaching approaches as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, including teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff, to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting the diverse needs of students.
  • Stay abreast of developments in the field of special education and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice and knowledge.
  • Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, with a relevant degree in education or a related field.
  • Specialism or additional qualification in special education needs (SEN) is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience teaching students with special educational needs, particularly at the secondary level, is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of various learning difficulties, including but not limited to dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism spectrum disorders, and speech and language impairments.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the academic and personal growth of students with special educational needs.
  • Each candidate will be subject to a DBS and police check where required. A successful candidate will also provide at least two references from their previous employer/s.
