Behaviour and Learning Support Assistant

Location: Keighley, West Yorkshire

Contract type: Temporary, full time and part time (8:30am-3:30pm)

Pay Rate: £83-£95 a day

The provision is a dedicated educational facility providing support to students aged 5-11 years old with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). The school is committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive, regardless of their individual needs.

Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and resilient Behaviour and Learning Support Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students in managing their behaviours, fostering positive relationships, and creating a safe and conducive learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with Special Educational Needs.
  • Implement and monitor individualized behaviour plans, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting a sense of trust and security.
  • Support students in developing essential life skills and coping mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and parents to create a holistic support system.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour incidents, and interventions.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and training sessions.
  • Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience supporting children and/or adults with SEN and complex needs is essential.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and interventions is essential.
  • Level 2 Team Teach is essential, although this training can be offered by Veritas.
  • Safeguarding training is essential, although this can be offered by Veritas.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS upon registration.
  • Have proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

    Experience
    Working with children, young people and/or families with Special Educational Needs. Experience supporting individuals with complex needs and/or disabilities. Moving and Handling Care Certificate Intimate Hygiene experience Experience working with children in school/residential/care/hospital setting.
    Qualifications
    GCSE Maths and GCSE English grade C or above.
