Veritas Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Support Assistant to work within a welcoming secondary school in Batley. This rewarding role involves providing tailored support to an individual student, helping them to access their education, build confidence, and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, or for individuals looking to further their career within education and special educational needs (SEN).
The Role
As a 1:1 Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide dedicated support to a student throughout the school day.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the student's individual needs.
- Support the student's emotional, social, and academic development.
- Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement within lessons.
- Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting.
- Has experience supporting students with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties.
- Demonstrates patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach.
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Holds a relevant qualification in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
