Primary Teacher - EYFS/KS1 (PMLD, SEMH) Class Teacher Location: Chorley Start Date: February 2026
Veritas Education are delighted to be exclusively managing the recruitment of a passionate and dedicated Primary Teacher for a special, nurturing school in Chorley. This opportunity is to work with a class of pupils in the EYFS/KS1 age range with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities), non-verbal communication, and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
The school prides itself on its commitment to providing a safe, engaging, and enriching environment where every pupil is encouraged to thrive. The successful candidate will work alongside a skilled team of teaching assistants and specialist staff to create a tailored learning experience for pupils with complex needs. This role is suitable for both experienced teachers and ECTs, with salary offered on the Main Pay Scale or Upper Pay Scale, depending on experience.
The Role:
Full-time EYFS/KS1 Class Teacher, working with pupils with PMLD and SEMH
Planning, delivering, and adapting lessons that meet the needs of each pupil, ensuring an engaging and inclusive learning experience
Developing and implementing strategies to support communication (both verbal and non-verbal) and emotional well-being
Creating a calm and structured classroom environment that promotes learning and development
Monitoring, assessing, and reporting on individual pupil progress, ensuring each child's needs are met
Collaborating with parents, carers, therapists, and a dedicated support team to create a holistic approach to each pupil's development
The Ideal Candidate:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Has experience working with children with PMLD, SEMH, or special educational needs (or relevant training placements)
Demonstrates a strong understanding of non-verbal communication methods and emotional support strategies
Is compassionate, patient, and committed to making a difference in the lives of children with complex needs
Has excellent communication and teamwork skills, and is able to collaborate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team
