Are you a recent science graduate looking to gain hands-on classroom experience before pursuing teacher training? This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and ambitious secondary school in Haringey as a Science Teaching Assistant. You'll work closely with experienced teachers, gaining valuable insight into the profession while supporting students across KS3 and KS4. For the right candidate, this role can lead to a school-based teacher training route the following academic year. Whether you're exploring teaching, psychology, or educational support as a long-term path, this role provides an excellent springboard for your career in education.
As a Science Teaching Assistant, you'll:
Work closely with students aged 11-16, supporting them in class, in small groups and 1:1
Assist teachers in delivering engaging, practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics
Help maintain and prepare practical equipment and resources
Provide academic and emotional support to students with a range of learning needs
Gain invaluable classroom experience in a diverse and supportive school community
We're Looking For:
This role would suit someone who is:
A recent science graduate (e.g. Neuroscience, Biology, Psychology, Biomedicine) with strong academic background
An excellent communicator, able to engage young people with empathy and authority
Organised, adaptable and confident working in a busy classroom environment
Interested in education, youth development or SEND
Experience with tutoring, mentoring, youth work, teaching abroad or volunteering is a huge plus
