Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Harrogate. This role involves working 1:1 with a pupil who has autism, helping to manage their behaviour, and ensuring they are engaged and learning in a positive, structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the pupil with autism on a 1:1 basis within a primary school setting.
- Implement a personalized alternative timetable to meet the pupil's individual needs.
- Manage behaviour effectively, using de-escalation techniques and a calm, patient approach.
- Set clear boundaries while maintaining a positive, supportive learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers and other professionals to ensure the pupil's success.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with autism and/or special educational needs is desirable.
- Ability to de-escalate challenging behaviours and remain calm under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children and staff.
- A proactive and flexible approach to supporting the pupil's needs.
- A passion for working in education and making a difference in a child's learning journey.
