Description

Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) HLTA - ScienceStart ASAPSUTTON/MERTON BORDERVeritas are working with a co-ed secondary PRU based near the Sutton/Merton border. The school caters for ages 11-16 and support students with a range of special needs that have either been excluded from mainstream schools, on respite from home schools or year 11 students without a school place. Many of the students have social and emotional difficulties and follow EHCP's.The school are looking for a committed HLTA to join their team on a temp to permanent basis. An individual with a background in Science is essential. The role will involve teaching small groups of students under the instruction of the class teacher. This is a challenging environment and will require resilience and strong behaviour management skills, previous experience working as a HLTA is also desirable. A certificate in Team teach or MAPA is desirable. Responsibilities will include assessing the needs of students along with the SENCO, planning and covering lessons, leading interventions and managing a small team of LSA's. Other duties will include monitoring behaviour, helping to develop social skills and communication and providing feedback to SLT. The school is based close a mainline station. There is also parking available at the school. Key skills and experience needed:

  • HLTA qualification desirable
  • University degree or A Level qualification in SCIENCE
  • Previous support work within a school or other child related experience
  • Team Teach or MAPA training
  • Professional manor, committed and resilient
  • Enthusiasm and friendly approach
  • Strong behaviour management skills
