Secondary SEN schoolHounslowstart ASAP
Veritas are currently working with a Secondary SEN school in Hounslow. The school caters for a wide range of abilities and moderate to severe special needs. There is also a provision for students with ASD. The school are looking to recruit a SEN teaching assistant to start ASAP. Class sizes are small and there are usually at least 2-3 TA's in the class supporting the teacher. We are looking for a passionate TA to work 1:1 with a non-verbal student with ASD. Having experience dealing with challenging behaviour and being proactive in your approach to these students is beneficial - however the school is willing to consider candidates that have a keen interest in supporting these young individuals. A form of restraint training/ positive handling is essential i.e Team teach/ MAPA.The school is located close to an underground, a mainline train station and various local bus routes. Access to a car would be advantageous. Key skills:- Experience working with SEN children age 11-18 in either a school or care setting- Professional, friendly approach- Enthusiastic and resilient- Experience managing challenging behaviour- TEAM TEACH/ MAPA trainedDesirable but not essential:- Knowledge of PECS and MAKATON- wheelchair handling care experience- Manual handling experience- Experience using hoists If you are interested in this rewarding position please send your CV to Gemma at Veritas
